For over 55 years, visitors to Episcopal churches across the country have been greeted by signs bearing the phrase, "The Episcopal Church Welcomes You." While we may not have the sign at St. Luke's, we certainly seek to live out the message. As God calls out to us unceasingly in unconditional love, we strive to share that love unceasingly with our neighbors.
Our story begins nearly 125 years ago in the realized dreams of pioneers. Our sanctuary was contructed in 1884 as the third of four original churches in Galt. Orginally housing a Congregationalist group, by 1901 a nascent Episcopal congregation began sharing space in the sanctuary, eventually becoming its sole stewards. We have been honored to serve generations since in Galt and the surrounding community. We also acknowledge and respect that the land upon which our church is built is the ancestral heritage of the Miwok people, and we steward this land for the good of all generations now and to come.
