Mark grew up in Galt and has been a member of St. Luke's for nearly 20 years. He found the church in his teens during a time of great spiritual difficulty in his life, when he was just about ready to give up on his faith. At St. Luke's he found a place so full of love and welcome that he knew right away that it would become his spiritual home.
Since then he has served in many capacities at St. Luke's, always aiming to share the life-changing love he experiences here as far and wide in our community as possible. He currently serves as Senior Warden, the principal elected layperson in the church. His responsibilities in this role currently include leading the church's local governance body (The Mission Committee), selecting the liturgy and music used in our worship services, coordinating clergy visits, and assisting with the day-to-day administration of the church.
Mark is also a licensed Preacher, Worship Leader, Lay Eucharistic Minister, and Lay Eucharistic Visitor. He currently leads most of our Morning Prayer services and frequently assists at the altar during Holy Eucharist.
Outside of St. Luke's, Mark also serves as a member of the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Northern California and works in Sacramento as a technology consultant. His hobbies include cooking, baking, and gardening (all joys which he loves sharing with his church family). He has also had a keen interest in travel since his days serving in the US Army and loves experiencing God in music and in the great outdoors.
