For 50 years, we have honored the legacy of St. Luke the Physician and the healing power of Jesus Christ by offering scholarships to graduating high school seniors who plan to enter the health and medical science professions. Each year, our outreach committee asks applicants from Galt High School and Liberty Ranch High School to write an essay about what they would like to do in the medical field and the ways they have been inspired to help others and their community along the way. The committee reviews these essays thoughtfully and, at graduation, presents this scholarship to two remarkable young people, in addition to offering them an invitation to speak at St. Luke's about their dreams for the future.
The biggest single source of funding for these scholarships is the annual St. Luke's Christmas Bazaar, held the first weekend in December. We have been blessed to grow our proceeds from this event substantially in recent years, and have put that right back into growing the size of our scholarships. As of 2024, we were privileged to offer our scholarship recipients $1000 each to help fund their way. It is our hope that we can continue to increase this amount in years to come as the proceeds from our Bazaar also grow.
